Season is delighted to present Queue, an exhibition of paintings by Tony Guo.
Guo has likened his creative methodology to ‘unscripted theatre’, a notion that also chimes with his experience of coming to terms with his place in the world. Each new work made, like each day lived, is at once rehearsal and fully realised performance. Process is product. Standing in line is its own end. The paintings in Queue are underpinned by improvisation, as Guo continues to deemphasise pictorial conventions and predetermined outcomes. Passages of figuration, by turns whimsical and haunting, jostle and interlace with abstract forms and gestures. The observed fuses with the invented, the legible with the inscrutable.
